How Do I Tell What Year?

The guy I picked up my POS-Stang from said it had a 1989 GT 302 in it... the guys at the shop thought it was an 86... I took a look... where is the engine stamped... I can't see really any numbers on the block anywhere... How can I tell if it's an 89... the the only thing I can see clearly is the FORD 5.0 HO... given the lackluster performance I wouldn't be surprised if it's the original 78 302 converted to EFI with some parts bolted on

Seriously though... where's that sucker stamped...

This seems like a really easy question... does ford not stamp the engine block anywhere?

Block casting number will be right side rear cast into the ear where the bell housing bolts to right above the starter. It will be fairly hard to see but it's there. If it is a roller motor it will have an E5 or newer casting number.
