Is it a stock Ford cable? What year? I think 85-93 adjusts as follows if stock, my 86 did as follows.
If so place your foot under the clutch pedal and pull it towards you, then push it to floor, if teeth aren't messed up on quadrant it should make some adjustment. May need to do this a couple of times. Check quadrant for cracks or broken pieces, if it looks okay you shouldn't have any problems with. Just sounds like clutch isn't adjusted up enough. If you replace the cable get a firewall adjustable one, I put in a FRPP replacement that adjusts at the clutch lever, and it is a PITA!!, especially as the cable stretch's. Good luck |

Not too difficult to do, just getting up under the dash to slip the cable on the quadrant is a bit of a circus routine. Could you see the quadrant cam moving when you were trying to make the earlier adjustment?

Yes I think you are looking at the right piece.
If it's a stock quadrant there should be some teeth on it, and a little cam like rocker(about an inch or 2 long) with teeth that is spring loaded that locks into these teeth. It can only lock in one direction, try this link, not very clear but might help. http://www.fordracingparts.com/downl...-7553-B302.pdf |
