Rather unusual tech question here.

Most guys want to know what they need for drag. I am usually that guy.

But I have come to a realization that its going to be a while before I can buy up everything I have on my wish list so in the mean time. I want the best possible ride on the street for my 90 hatch lx.

So the question I have is. What would be the best strut/shock combo out there for the best "RIDE QUALITY".

I want my car to ride and handle like new or better again.
Right now I have stock struts and shocks, just about worn out. Stock uppers and megabite jrs lower. Front is entirely stock 4cyl stuff. But I have a 5.0 carbed engine in it now.

I put some Monroe Sensatrac struts and shocks on my stock 91 Mustang back in the mid 90's. They are still on there and working good. It handled a little better and a little smoother then the stock ones. I only replaced the stock ones because one shock and one strut was bad. I would not have bothered if the stock ones weren't bad. They didn't cost a lot. I don't think they will help you much at the track for weight transfer though

x2 for the sensatrac stuff,if you want to lower your car and have a really good ride then get the ford racing C-springs.they are not that stiff but will handle very well when needed

Do yourself a favor, and do your suspension right the firs time.

Before I can recommend a list of parts to you, I need to know EXACTLY what you want to do with the car. Is this a street only car, are you trying to stay lightly modified, are you trying to build a drag car... give more info, and I can help you out!

I never said I want to lower or drag the car. I am doing the opposite.

I want top notch ride quality on the street. With out putting it on air bags.
Daily driven car. That might occasionaly go to the track just for fun. Not building a hot rod here.

I want it to ride like a newer car, thats what I am saying.
I get in my 97 gt and Im like damn this thing rides so much better than the fox does.
My wife doesnt even want to drive my fox! One reason is cause it rides like a fox!

I went with H&R lowering springs tockico shocks and new upper and lower control arms. I have subframes wating to be put on. even with out the subframe connections, I can show the average ass riding ricer how horrible a mustang can handle

they are a lot better than the 60's mustang and a cadillac never handled great at all. its like driving a boat with soft suspension. Also get a performance alignment to correct the factory understeer

what you have now sounds great, 4 cylinder springs are softer than the v8's, throw a set of tokicos on there and you'll be good to go... that's exactly what my set up is... (minus the tokicos for the time being...)

That's not completely true man, my 86 vert handles like a new car. Its lowered 2" and has adjustable shocks/struts on it. everything else is pretty much stock. Here's a pic of it
