I'm partial to Trick Flow but theres always Edelbrock or Holley SystemMax, GT40, Cobra list goes on just stay away from BBk intakes.

BBK 5001 - BBK 5.0L SSI-Series Intake Manifold - JEGS

BBK 5008 - BBK 5.0L SSI-R Series Intake Manifold - JEGS

so it would be a bad idea to get one of these?

trickflow i think is the better of the intakes.... and as far as hp.... you need to replace your heads to get a substantial amount lol

EDELBROCK PERFORMER/RPM INTAKE

or

TRICK FLOW STREET HEAT INTAKE

Both are great, trick flow looks better but the edelbrock has more HP.
If you ever need the gaskets for the upper trick flow intake let me know. I have 3 brand new ones in a box at my house.

I have ran every intake mentioned here and probably 2-4 others. The BBK is junk period. The rest of the ones mentioned all have their qualities and I like them all. However for the gain and price for a street car I would highly recommend the Typhoon EFI upper and lower made by Professional Products. You can find the Satin version for $300 or less for both pieces. It will be a little buggery in the casting but nothing you can't knock off with a dremel in a few minutes and they perform on a dynojet 248 just as well as several of the above mentioned.

I have a 90 Gt here with Edelbrock Performer heads, Typhoon intake, long tube headers and a 200 shot running low 6's in the 1/8th. It has several other mods but that should give you an idea of it's potential.

I also have a 94 Gt with a junky Powerdyne S/C, Edelbrock heads and the Typhoon intake making 459 @ the rear tires so they flow just fine.

It all depends on the combination. X intake will make less horsepower than Y intake on a particular combination but Y intake will make less horsepower than X intake on a different combination.
