whats a good alternator. i heard about guys using taurus 130amp alternators

PA. performance sell good alternators and Powermaster sells nice ones too.

3g alternators can be found on some tauruses and all SN95 stangs. they do require some rewiring. not much though and there are lots of write-ups on the subject.

Yeah, but if you going to spend money on a new alternator you may as well spend a littel more and get a 130-140 amp unit.

yep...reason why i said there's some rewiring involved. nearly all alts better than stock are gonna be 3g

You can get 130-140amps in a 2G

I don't know....I know that my 140 amp (1 wire) alternator was a direct swap except for needing a heavier power wire plus I was able to get rid of my external regulator.

I'm not saying a 3G isn't better but I'm curious as to why a 3G if you can get a 2G to put out the same amps?

BTW, most people have to slightly modify their alternator bracket when switching from a 2G to a 3G

ok i bought a 130a 3g brand new with a new battery. my old alternator passed the tests for voltage but they couldnt test amps so i just went with the new 130a 3g
