Need Help My belt keeps destroying its self

I noticed the other day my belt was all shredded on one edge. So I replaced it. The new belt only lasted a week and it now is all shredded too. I don't know why it is doing this.

Also when I buy a belt they keep telling me their are two different lenghts.

One is for factory AC then other is for Dealer ac. One of them is 3 inches longer. I believe I have the shorter belt on the car now.

Any idea's. I can't drive my car right now and I really need it.

sounds like either you have something on a pulley, or maybe even a bent pulley imo...

I do notice the crank pully wobbling a bit. But how did it all at once start to wobble.

I don't get it.

What about the different lenght belts.

Also my water pump pully looks funny aswell. It's like it's crooked too. I have no idea what to do.

Yeah, sounds like a pully alignment issue. I would think if it was because of the wobbling it would wear out both sides of the belt from it getting tossed back and forth.

You have a pulley alignment issue or a burr on one of the pulleys.

how did it get out of alignment. Car has been fine. I noticed the belt was bad last week. I replaced it and now a week later it's bad again.

I do notice the water pump pulley looks crooked. I put a wrench on the bolts and they were tight. But the actual water pump pulley looks a bit crooked. could this mean the water pump shaft is bad.

I replaced that water pump in the winter time. I think it was late december.

Broken pulley, broken bracket, loose bolts, bent water pump shaft, etc.

That could account for the belt running off toward the front or rear causing it to wear. When you remove the belt, check for play in the water pump shaft. Normally they start to leak alittle coolant when the shaft bearing goes.

i hope I don't have to replace the water pump again. I just replaced it in the winter time. It sucked and I never want to replace a water pump again. I'd rather replace the heater core.

Typical auto parts store thing. No brains, just what the computer can tell them. I would venture a guess that at least 99% if not more are factory installs, that would be my default answer to that question. That really does not relate to your belt wear issue.

They keep asking you so they can get you the correct belt. You either have factory or dealer A/C or no A/C, all of which take a different belt.

I'm with you sounds like a lot of BS. I would say if you are running the smaller and it isn't screeching when you start the car up you are safe to use what you have. As Far as the pulleys go it sounds like you have a bur and a wobble. or just a burr and something stained on your pulley giving it the illusion that it is wobbling.
