problems.. help please!
I don't know if I already made a thread about this. But I just need some suggestions on what could be wrong. I have an 88 5.0.. Ever since I got it, It would hesitate under WOT around 4500rpms. And when I would shift it would backfire really loud usually out of 3rd into 4th. The car has 4.10 gears and feels as slow or slower than my old fox with 50k more miles on it and 3.27 gears. Could it be running to rich or to lean? What could I do to fix this? I was thinking about changing the plugs and dizzy cap. But the previous owner said he changed the plugs every 3 months. Help me out here guys. I hate having a LOUD car that feels like a fat turd
Oh, and could a low engine oil level be a cause of these problems? I've tried looking it up on google but can't find anything. The reason I ask is because I just checked my oil and there is barely just a tiny bit on the tip of the dipstick. Yeah, I will change my oil in the next couple days, just wondering if this could be a cause. Syptoms include lack of power, studdering and hesitating in upper rpms.
