Yay rear end noise... AGAIN

alright just put 300$ into the rear axle, got a bearing kit and rebuild the whole axle, set backlash and pinion pre-load correctly. just over 1k miles and its making a growling noise again... wtf sorta frustrating. going to put her on jack stands and run it to see where the noise is comming from and then go from there, i hope is one of the ouside axle bearings. i did not replace my axles altho they were worn where the bearings ride, so i bout the fix for that where the bearing is moved towards the outside of the axle for a fresh riding surface.

so what do you guys think

if it is worn/pitted, anything but smooth as glass where the outer bearings ride it will growl... sounds like your problem right there if axles are worn

yeah, im going to put it on jack stands and check to see where exactly the noise is comming from. the outside bearings would be the only ones that would have done something like that tho. i used a raytech install kit with bearings and all, so all 4 inner bearings i know are pretty decent bearings, i cant beleive that one would have failed already.

fyi the noise just started after about 1k. friday she is comming back apart...
