IS a 3 inch exhaust too big?

I can get my hands on a 3 inch exhaust with 1 3/4 long tube headers. Do you think this is too much on a stock engine and will it effect anything?

No way, if your all or mostly stock you probably wont have enough back pressure. And it will for sure kill your torque.
Might see if ya can just get the headers though.

prbly quite a bit. I was running long tube headers with an open off road h pipe. This was on a stock engine and once I put mufflers on it I could tell a huge performance increase. It just had no backpressure on a stock engine. If you're really serious about the stroker and gonna do it soon I would pick up the exhaust and just save it until you do the stroker (especially since you're gonna get it for cheap)

honestly depends on your set up and how its all built. You doing a stroker? and why not just go 347? more HP.

the engine geometry of a 347 is poor and wears fast as well as the position of the wrist pin and the oil consumption. A 347 is more to get the max hp for the drag strip not for a street car to last. I will be shooting for about 450hp at the crank out of the build

You can't change the wrist pin from intersecting the oil ring. Which almost makes it weaker.

my brother had 2.5" pipes on his 2001 v6 and he lost torque. You will lose it with 3" pipes

I knew a guy with an 03 gt that put a 3 inch exhaust on. He dyno'd the car before and after he put it on. He lost a little torque and gained some horsepower from it
