painting interior

i'm about ready to do away with the porno red interior, and i decided to go all black. i was planning on painting all the plastic pieces possible. how should i go about this? is walmart brand flat black spray paint alright to use? i don't want my interior to smell like paint when i get everything put back together.

the $12 a can is well worth it... we bought 5 cans of it and there is a reason its $12 a can and you will find out when u try to paint a panel with the walmart paint and you are scratching your head when you spray a panel and half of it bubbels and flakes and the other half has fish eyes in it. regular paint doesnt stick to un sanded half ass cleaned armoral coated plastic. and the second u sand the panel so the paint will stick u loose the factory panel texture and it looks like ass..

buy a large bottle of rubbing alchahol and rub all the panels down with a lint free rag to get rid of as much oils as you can.

There are several brands of adhesion promotors out there. It's a clear spray that burns in (softens) the surface long enough for the paint to get a good bite on the plastic. Anywhere from $6 - $10 a can and it will do a couple of interiors. Works great on those hard to sand areas like door jambs, under hoods, etc. as well. Any auto paint supply store.

i wouldnt recommend anything from wal-mart, but the bottom line is if you want to be happy with the finished product, take your time and do it right. or to the best of your abilities because not everybody can do it right.

that ugly yellow and black turboed vert that people keep posting is proof of this.

fabric and vinyl spray paint from autozone $6-8 a can, works better than everything else, and shines better than stock black stuff

fabric and vinyl spray works great, i wouldnt think a brand would matter, but im just one who wouldnt go to walmart either. i helped a buddy of mine do his, and he just had spray paint from autozone which worked wonderfuly. just make sure and clean the surfaces off like others have said to get proper adhesion...
