just a few simple questions

put an e-303 cam in recently with stock ported heads (the cam is mostly for sound, so dont start lecturing me about new heads =P)

i dont have a timing light.

just putting that out there.

can i adjust the distributor slowly with the car on and the spout out until it [is it pings or detonates or misfires?] and then adjust it back a little?

2nd question.

i put the cam in a 0, i want to put it at 5 advanced now though, will the piston/valve clearance be ok with the 5 advance? i have stock rockers, new springs and new rods/lifters

also having some idle issues since im pretty sure my tps is off, my IAC is whack, and my o2 sensors are almost dead. getting new sensors and iac in the next few days.

If your not willing to buy the correct parts or tools then you will never get what you want out of the car.

Dont just guess at things...... Do it right the first time.

You can bump the timing with the spout in and keep test driving (going wot).... when it pings....then back it down a few degrees.....but you will never know what your timing is exactly.....

If you have a timing wheel and adjustable timing chain then go a head and advance the cam....but you will still need to check ptv clearance no matter what...so pull a head and clay it........

If you dont want to go through that process then dont bother.....

Had a friend try to advance an E-cam with stock heads with out measuring ptv clearance and had some valve hitting problems......
