4cyl -> 5.0 f.i. convesion ?

simple question..

I'm getting an 89 lx 4cyl car...

going 302 with it, and i've been looking at using the factory fuel injection system of a mass air car.

Will the ford efi harness bolt right up in a 4cyl car, or are any plugs different?

I can get a mass air harness, ecu, 19# injectors, afm, rails, regulator, upper/lower intake and tb for 750.

You need the body wiring harnes, engine wiring harness and computer from a V8 Mustang. The swap is really a piece of cake. With any luck the engine harness will be on the engine when you buy it. Pull the body harness and computer out of your car and put a V8 harness and computer in its place. Plug everything in. If you choose the mass air route make sure you do not hook a vacuum line to the MAP sensor.

well seeing as I need all that it's rather frustrating. I'm getting a runnign 4cyl car, and a roller motor from a friend.. the motor is carbed at the moment so I have zero parts of the fuel injection setup. I'm a big fan of fuel injection.. so maybe i'll just run the carb for now until i can find someone yanking off their entire f.i. system and convert it later on.

All that? There is nothing to it. The harnesses and computer are avaliable from any salvage yard or from many resources on line. You will need to modify your fuel system also whether you choose EFI or a carburetor.

since the car was fuel injected, were running an aeromotive 8psi regulator on it at the moment, so for the fuel system, all we would have to do is put the rail on with the stock injector and remove the carbed regualor.

Same setup on my friends 86gt... returns 80% of the gas lol

EDIT: I was unware at the time of the post

Like i said above, my friend has an 86 with a carb.. but it was orignally fuel injected. So he has the tb, intake, lower intake, rails/regulator and ecu. All i would need to do is the maf, maf conversion and harness!! I planned on running 30# injectors anway.. so i can just get a maf tuned for those to start with.

That is one way to do it but won't be enough fuel. It will run and drive but I'll guarantee it will go lean when the engine is reving. The reason why it returns so much fuel is because that is how it bleeds the pressure down to 8 psi.
