Harmonic Balancer
I had to change out the balancer because it was loosing the rubber in the center. I put it back on and it was easy. My question is it supposed to go on like a chevy or does the 80 foot pounds keep it there?? I really don't want to loose it while i'm driving it. I am used to beating on a chevy balancer. Mark

You shouldn't every beat any balancer on. You risk damanging the balancer, crank and bearing by doing that. They make a tool for the job, its called a "harmonic balancer installation tool". Just like a Chevy there is a key on the crank. The groove in the balancer must slide over this key and then the bolt goes in. Alot of the time you can push the balancer on far enough and then use the bolt to draw it in the rest of the way.

70 - 90 ft lbs will hold it provided that it is all the way on. You did use a harmonic balancer installer, not a hammer, right?

Balancer
I never beat on a balancer with a hammer. We always use a 4x4 block and a rubber mallet. The one on my fox slid way on and mu chevy's are super tight. Is there a way to look at the balancer and tell if it's on all the way?? Anyone have a pick??

Hammer or rubber mallet doesn't make a difference. Its the jolt every time you whack it that does the damage. It would be wise to never do that again.

FYI, it is a bad idea to hit the balancer to get it on, use the install tool. HOWEVER, Ford does mention in the installation instructions of their Ford Racing balancer that you can tap the balancer with a block of wood or aluminum with a hammer IF you heat the balancer by boiling it in water (15 min) or putting it in the oven @ 150-200 for 15 min and not letting cool before it's fully installed with the bolt.
