waking up my 91....

i have a 91 LX and i really want to wake it up....but i also want a car that can be my daily driver because it is my only car....so far i have 3:73 gears, cold air intake, BBK shorty headers, offroad H-pipe, SLP "Loudmouth" cat-back, 65 mm. throttle body, computer chip and custom tune...

i want to make it as fast as possible without having it breaking everyday and i also dont want to be getting 10 MPG....

i was thinking maybe a different cam, bigger injectors, trickflow intake, bigger throttle body, and a bigger mass air sensor.... would this make a big difference and where would it put me at..horsepower-wise???

any different ideas???

Put a good set of heads on it and leave the rest.

Or a supercharger.

I wouldn't worry about bigger injectors at this point or a bigger throttle body.

don't forget the underdrive pulleys. easiest/cheapest 5-10hp you can get. also the stock MAF meter is 55mm...not condusive to performance, replace it with something larger and throw an explorer/cobra/gt40 or the trick flow intake manifold on. forget about a cam until you get cylinder heads. the stock cam's pretty good anyways. larger injectors are not necessary yet either. its possible to get up to 250rwhp with just an intake manifold, TB, MAF, pulleys, electric fan, and exhaust.

i was looking at some stuff on summit racing and came across the trickflow street heat top-end kit...would that be ok????would i still have a pretty reliable everyday car with that setup???

i was looking at superchargers, but i cant find one that will give me a decent amount of horsepower with keeping everytthing else stock.... i really would like a supercharger but i want one that isnt expensive like procharger but one that will also make a big difference without having to change anything else...

that top-end kit would be nice...at least 300hp, but remember when you get to that level you will want to upgrade injectors. also you won't get those numbers out of the kit with the stock mass air flow meter (big restriction). if you choose to go the supercharger route skip the 6psi kits and go for at least 9psi. most superchargers will add a ton of hp, in fact a lot of them will outperform a Heads/Cam/Intake combo like the trickflow kit, but usually some tuning is required, a custom burnt chip, or a tuner like the tweecerRT or anderson's PMS.

with efi its pretty easy to make alot of hp and still remain street friendly and reliable, but more power=more fuel burned. if you drive in a reasonable fashion though, fuel mileage won't be affected much, its only when you visit the 2500rpm and up range that performance mods really start costing you in MPGs

could my motor handle 9 psi??? a lot of guys tell me that 5 psi would be safe....and if i would go with a supercharger, wouldnt i still need to go with bigger injectors, bigger TB, and bigger mass air?

someone told me that most of the time guys buy superchargers that are good up to 9 psi or so and when they get their car tuned, they end up having to tone down the supercharger to about 4-6 psi anyway....i dont want to waste the money on a 9 psi supercharger and then not even have to use it all...[/quote]

i'm fairly sure (confidence inspiring isn't it?) that you could get away with 9psi, not positive but i've just always heard to skip the 6psi kit . you would need bigger injectors and a matching maf, but you wouldn't necessarily need a huge maf or TB. the air will be forced in anyway and the smaller diameter wont be too much of a detriment, although of course you'd make more power with them upgraded.

I think there is an echo in here. I think I just seen 32 different threads asking the same question........
