You may be surprised how well these things hold up. Ive got a temporary 4 cyl trans behind my combo and its holding on for dear life, but it is holding on. Right now im making just a little under 600hp and near the same in torque on my turbo 306. now of course i cant launch or even really get on it but just for moving it around and the occassional spin around the block its doing alright

they are just temporary for now so we can get the motor together. I'm not against gt40p's, i would just rather spend they few extra bucks on other stuff at the moment.

I would be happy with a mid 13 car. Not looking for a record breaking car, just something fun to drive every now and then.

I suppose for the occasional ganny-ing, but doesnt that defeat the purpose of these vehicles?

you could take the 40p bolt em on with a set of slicks and you will run 13s.
but i would upgrade your tranny jus so it will be reliable.

dropping the crank, rods and block off at the machine shop next week. Standard .030 overbore, polished stock rods, forged pistons. Crank is in great shape, going to mic it and see what it comes to.. may just polish it and use standard bearing sizes.

Forged roller 302 shortblock is a good start!

FYI: there is a set of dart heads with rockers on ebay for 600 bucks right now. too bad i'm poor.

If anyone see's a set of gt40p heads for sale let me know...

Motor specs have turned quite a bit.. car will be boosted down the road, hence the lower compression..

roller block
standard 306 (.030 overbore)
forged pistons
polished rods
gt40p headed
edelbrock dual plane
holley 670vac 2ndary (got off ebay for 25 bucks)
shorty headers and 2 1/2 h pipe with dumps

Now.. I've been wondering which camshaft to use. a smaller camshaft would be better suited to those p heads.. like a 224/230 .500 lift.

Any and all input is appreciated.

i'm going to be doing a junkyard turbo setup.. depending on how much power it makes, i'll adress the rearend and transmission accordingly.

There is a 95 gt in the junkyard with rear end damage.. i may go snatch the front brake setup off it and put it aside for my future 5 lug swap.

I really really really want some 10.5 bullits in the rear!

UPDATE!!

Got deals left and right all over the net on all my swap parts..

4in cowl hood (wanted a 2 1/2) for 75 bucks so i can't complain
FRPP 50oz flywheel for 40 bucks - 2k miles on it
King Cobra cluch thanks to mustank (should be here shortly) 50 bucks
Friend made me some solid motor mounts
Bellhousing, plate, clutch for, ball, t/o bearing and bolts for 110 bucks shipped

so now I have all my swap pieces!

The car that currently has the motor i will be putting in mine was painted this weekend, so he is really eager to get his 429 in it. So once that swap is done well drop the 302 in.

Started blocking my trunk and hood this week.
Going to pick up a new 1/4 glass next week from the guy who sold me the car..
as soon as the hood is done i'll work on the doors
the whole front clip is in primer and ready to go.
