Finally a fox owner!!

Today I picked up my 89 notch 4 cyl car! The car has a slight fender bender on the right side, but i have a whole new front clip to put on it! Spotless interior, clean lx.

I also got a motor to work with! The motor is out of an 84 crown vic that ran amazing. Were going to tare it down to the block, pull it all apart, mic it and rebuild it accordingly to have a fresh motor. I don't plan on building the motor too drastically.. Only looking for about 250whp.

Since these 84 heads suck, were going with this build:

Oem rebuild on the shortblock
E7te heads, ported and gasket matched
230/230 duration, .510/.510 110lsa comp cam
Dual plane intake
holley 600cfm carb
shorty headers
h pipe with flow dumps
electronic dizzy

This will be my first motor build and i'm trying to do it as cheap as possible. Know the saying fast, cheap, reliable, pick three. well it's not my daily driver, I don't care if i blow the motor up as i have access to 3 more blocks and i'm not making an all out drag car, just something fun to drive on the weekends!

any input is greatly apprecaited!

Ditch the E7 heads. They suck. For under 200 you can pick up a junkyard set of GT40P heads and a matching intake. Just the heads would be under 100 if you're going carbed. They will give a good power addition for cheap.

Congrats on the car! We need pics!

I'll look into a set of gt40 heads..
i'll snap some pictures tom!!

I'm going to use that 4cyl trans for now, all i have to get is the t5 302 bellhousing and new pilot bearing. The trans only has 75k on it and feels super strong. It should last me until spring until i can get a world class t5.

So I need:
Mounts
Bell Housing
Clutch ford
Clutch kit
Few wiring odds and ends

You're also going to want to ditch the 7.5" rear if this will be a track car.

My friend ran a 4cyl trans in his car for a year and a half.. took it to the track regularly with it... took it out to put a world class t5 in and it blew up in a month.. go figure lol

As long as it can last till spring until the motor is nice and broke in i'll be happy.

Were building an 8.8 rear to put under it ;-)

ha ha I've posted this on like three threads now but I have a set of gt40 non p heads wich are more rare and allowe more header options for sale. They sell for 400+ on ebay all day I'm looking for 300 plus shipping. They are in perfect shape and my car gained .3 at the strip with a worse 60 ft over my stock e7's with these.

Today I ordered:

t5 bellhousing
tranny plate
shifter fork
hurst shifter (ebay 50 bucks!)

Side work:
Yanked dented up front clip off
temporarily put on new clips fenders - lined up pretty well
Stripping the nose for cracked pain

Now i'm broke for a little bit so i'm going to start blocking the doors 1/4, fender and roof until i can get a med size dent pulled out on the drivers side.

parts needed:
cowl vent louvers
new hood prob 2in cowl would work
sbf intake
decent cyl heads (gt40's pref)

exactly. I wont have much money in this car at all and when i'm done with it, i'm sure it will be fun to drive.

Done today:

Set of pony wheels with caps for 20 bucks
Primed the front fenders and started blocking the rear 1/4

Motor is going to be a Forged Roller cam 306.

Were going to do a standard rebuild, but with arp hardware, forged pistons, polished rods, .030, fresh bearings, ported/gasketmatched heads.
Dual Plane edelbrock intake
holley 600cfm carb
shorty headers
h pipe with flowmaster dumps
electronic ignition
Electric fuel pump with 8psi regulator
Poly mounts
Decent clutch

8.8 rear with 4.10s
Traction bars
4cyl springs
lakewood 50/50s

pony wheels
245/50/16s
255/50/16 drag radials

and a 4cyl trans! lol

edlbrock AIR gap to match that cam

good set up, maybe later do a bit of nitrous

what are you planning on with the driveline?

i wanted to do a similar build but with a 351

So its cheaper to go get the e7's ported than to buy some gt40p's ?

A friend of mine is a big mustang nut and worked on these heads in his free time. So I'm not paying to have the heads done, he's just giving them to me to use if I want to.

I understand what you mean about better heads though, your power is in your heads, but for right now, I would rather spend my money on forged pistons, good valve train components, and suspension mods.

Better heads can always be swapped on later! :-)

Anyone ever run procomp alum heads? Pretty cheap for what you get.. almost too cheap.
