7.5" to 8.8" rear end swap help...

Hey everyone, I have a 97 mustang V6 that Im working on and needed to know if the fox body rear end will bolt up to the sn95 and if my axles and brake system will fit. I really dont want to spend too much on getting a 5 lug conversion kit for it so I was hoping the axles i have on the 7.5" fit the 8.8". Thanks in advance!

The Fox 8.8 is narrower by 1.5 inches. You'd be better off with a 8.8 out of another SN95...they're a dime a dozen. Or you can either run wider wheels with an offset, or look like a cornball with a funky rear end.

Thats exactly what I wanted to do but I got a good deal on a T5 tranny and rear end from a Fox. I dont mind running wider wheels with a different offset. Thats one of the last things Im doing and I want them to look nice along with the paint. But I was wondering if the axles that I already have fit the 8.8" so I can just swap everything to the new diff.

I could be wrong here too, but I think the trans is different between the fox and the sn95. I believe the input shaft is longer on the sn95 trans... e3sean?

No. Your 7.5 axles will be too long, and I believe the spline count will be different. I think the 7.5 is a 28-spline, and the 8.8 is a 31. I could be thinking of the truck 8.8, which I know is a 31-spline.

Standard Mustang 7.5 and 8.8 rear ends are 28 spline.
