starting issues

my 88 lx 5-speed wont start after its warmed up. it cranks then the lights go dim. it does it all the time since my remote battery install. it will start right while cold but if i let it run or drive it for awhile it wont start. i think it might be a bad ground but idk.... thanks in advance for the input

ohhhh, i wish you'd have mentioned the remote battery in your previous post. do you have the negative cable going to the chassis only or did you also run a cable back up to the block. its a good idea to run the extra cable back up to the block because resistance through the chassis is much greater than resistance through the cable. also a good idea to use the best cable that you can afford.

thats one of the symptoms of a bad ground, not sure why, i'm sure it has something to do with more resistance when hot

for the negative cable that you'll need to run from the battery to engine block, take this excerpt into consideration:
"Replace existent battery cables with high quality replacements, an upgrade to 0W or 2/0 gauge is recommended, and the use of fine stranded cables ensures great conductivity, durability and flexibility. Strand density is important...regular battery replacements have stranded copper wires in the tens, while fine stranded cables are in the thousands. They're more expensive, but worth the investment due to their low resistivity, flexibility and ruggedness to heat."

and here's some more info on "no start" conditions that may be useful: http://www.my5oh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=524

ok i took the battery put it back in the original location and perfecto so i guess the remote battery can wait for the thicker wire.

no problem. and like you said, you can always put it back in the rear once you get some better wire.
