17x10.5 Wheels
I just won a set of polished Cobra R wheels for cheap on Ebay. They are 5 lug and made by AFS. The front are 17x8 with 245/45ZR17 tires and the rears are 17x10.5 with 275/40/ZR17 tires.
I would like to put them on my 87 LX Hatchback. Obviously I will need to do a 5 lug conversion which I was planning anyway, but will I need to do anything else to get them to fit? Do you think I will have rubbing problems on the rear? Thanks

I have a 88 GT with the same size tires but I have 17x9 all the way around . you might want to put the car up on ramps in the front and knock the studs out of your rear axle then have someone hold tire and rim flush to drum . At this point you will probably need to remove the quad shocks for clearance. If you still have a problem with the tire on the inside when you convert to 5 lug use the axles out of a newer mustang. I belive 96 and up but you will probaly need to convert to disk with that . They are longer if not use 94 axles or you will have to hamer the inside wheel well for clearance. Also at the same time you will have to watch the outer lip of the whell well with the out side of the tire. you might have to roll the lip. You have gone to the point in witch the rim in the rear is so wide that offset will be your major factor along with how centered the rear axle is in the rear. But if you don't raise the car and keep it level and check for clearances on your specific car chances are you will have to do it twice and you might find what looks to work on one side might not for the other so check both sides before deciding on how to modify yor car . When I say level the car you will need 4 jack stands or two stands an two ramps to simulate the car on the ground Jack stands in the rear if checking rear front if checking front . When knocking rear studs out lave nuts screwed flush to end of stud so you don't mess up the starting threads on you studs. There are other ways to check but Mustangs between years and even be a little diferent on the same years so doing the checks before comitting is always the best.

Thanks for all the info. I woke up at 4am this morning and found a huge thread on corral.net with pictures of wheels on fox bodies. Many of them have tire/wheel sizes and what modification was neeed. I think I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done now.
Most likely I will need to roll the fenders. I am going to be repainting the car, so I can roll the fenders first without worrying about messing up my paint. It sounds like I will probably need to remove the quad shock or at least flip it around. I didn't get a chance to research removing the quads, but if I remember right I think I can just take the off without doing anything else. I definitely will test fit like you suggested before ordering my 5 lug conversion parts. I think I will need to get just the right parts for the conversion, but it should work out well. Thanks
