i have an 88 LX
275 60 r15 nittos
might rub just a little bit
but a tap of the hammer in one place and its good
on a side note, what size ET streets will fit?
will the 28X11.5 fit the same?
i dont know if they measure them like slicks or like radials is why im asking.

you can run a 275 on a car with stock ride height, but once you lower it, anything more than a 255/50 will rub the fender rolls.

A friend of mine runs 255/50 hoosier drag radials. Hooks well and sits very aggressive.

a 28x11.5 will not fit without rubbing.

In a recent article in 5.0 Magazine they fit 315/35's with only the judicious use of a BFH.

To make it easier, here's the link to the article where they fit the 315/35/17 tires on the Fox coupe. No cutting involved. Fox Mustang Wheels - '86 T-Top Coupe Big 'n' Littles - 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine

I've run a 28x10.5 slick on a 15x10 wheel, 325/50-15 drag radial on a 15x10 wheel and a 275/40-17 street radial on a 17x9 wheel. The proper width rim and proper offset is needed. Sometimes a hammer is needed to massage the inner wheel wells.

I have 03 cobras with 17x10.5's in the rear with nitto 315 DR and using a 3/8 inch spacer (switching to 1/4 since the 3/8 is all that my local pasrts store had at the time) and also used a bfh to the inner fenders.

My 28" slicks rubbed over 130mph only. I haven't had a 28" drag radial or street radial rub at all. I don't know if the rear ground effects were different on any of the 87-93s but I haven't had any problems on my 91 or my 92.

Yea I used a heat gun then hit it with a hammer lightly. I tried it 1st without heating it and that want not very smart because it started to chip, but i didnt care since it was only primer.
