4 cylinder 5 speed?

hey there people well i am in a tough situation and i know what most of you will say but i have to ask anyway to see if anyone has had luck with this but here it goes i am on a very very tight budget and i have a 1990 mustang 5.0 and it has an aod out of a thunderchicken and i cannot afford an actual 5 speed but i have the oppurtunity to get a 4 cylinder 5 speed for about a $100 and my friends have all pulled together to get me the parts that i would need to put it in.my question is will it work and wil it hold up for a while until i can get the money for a real t-5?the reason that i am switching is a}a mustang with an stock auto is no fun and B} because the shifter linkage for the aod out of the thunderchicken doesn't match up to the mustang linkage and i cannot shift gears manualy.i have to put it in 1st and thats just regular drive so please help and if anyone has a good 5 speed for a 5.0 liter please let me know how much. i fell like i am going ...thanks ...sean

no, it won't work behind a v8. the input shaft is different as well as the internal gearing.

It will work if you don't beat the hell out of it!

I don't think the input shafts will interchange unless you also change the countershaft and the speed gear s as well due to the difference in ratios. IMO, don't waste your time, just find the correct T5.

It's been done before because I used to have a mustang with a 4 cyl. 5 speed behind it The last owner had it in so I don't know what he did.
I only know it was a 4cyl. tranny because when I blew it apart, I looked up the numbers on it and it came from a turbo 4cly. mustang.
If you end up having to spend money on it to work, you're better off looking for a v-8 tranny as mentioned above.
