He might know what he is doing porting heads that he commonly ports but GT40 heads are not a normal head. You can do whatever you want but I know guys that are experienced in porting these heads and doing anything in the ports themselves don't help flow. The valve bowl and short turn is where they need help.

Ya I just looked at camshaft inovations, cant go there roughly 350 for a camshaft on a pretty stock motor.

I believe you Darrell, you obviously know what you are talking about. This is my first motor build and I dont want to become disapointed with the parts I choose (ie. make less than 275rwhp) thats why I'm asking for opinions. What do you mean by short turn. Is that the turn in the inake runner?

I've set a budget of 1500 dollars and I have 650 already spent between an intake manifold and heads. I just have a hard time justifing 350 dollars for a cam on a stock stroke and bore 302. All im after is 285-300rwhp.

The short turn radius is where the bottom of the port turns into the valve pocket. Again, someone experienced with GT40 heads will know where to work on them. If you have to tell someone how or where to port heads then you might as well take them to the scrap yard.

You already bought the heads or you need to buy them yet? If it was me I'd sell them and find some used Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads. Make your dollar go further.

I already have the heads, any time iv looked for used TWS heads I cant find them and when I do there like $950. So if this guy dosent know to much about these heads what should I have him do? clean up the bowls and match them to my intake?

If he doesn't know anything about them then just have him do a good 3 or more angle valve job, new valve springs, retainers and locks. Taking .030 off will bring the compression up a bit too. Port matching to the intake will do nothing on these heads.
