its not a set amount usually the faster you go...the more it gives a false reading.

example at 35 mph your speedo will probably be somewhere around 42-45 mph.....but when your at 60-70 mph your speedo will probably read about 80-90 mph

its just a small plastic gear...that pops in the side of the tranny. and yes it'll put you fairly accurate, i mean keep in mind that we're talking about a 18 year old vehicle so the speedo...probably isn't 100% as it is anyway.

ok first thing's first... if you have a 91 trans (i'm gonna assume t5) then changing the driven gear on the sender isn't going to fix it.. the most you can re-calibrate for is 3.55... this is assuming you still have the stock 8 tooth spedo drive gear in there.. yoiu will need a 6 tooth drive gear with an 19 or 20 tooth driven gear i believe.... just call up any aftermarket parts co. for example, call "latemodelrestoration" they have bad ass phone support, and they'll get you both gears that you'll need... but you have to also take into account your tire size...
