yeah i had the same problem with a brand new holley AFPR.

it sucked so much fuel into my intake there was a huge puddle in the intake and my car barely ran. it would just die in traffic. it was fun the first time when i didnt notice and lost my power brakes. thats a good eye opener.

The car is stock with no mods, and i don't really drive it hard much at all. The check engine light does come on and off, i took it to a ford dealership and paid them 95 bucks to pull the codes, it came back clean. i'm not sure if maybe its a leaky injector, or if O2 sensors would cause the gas mileage, to be off by that much. I have noticed recently that sometimes when i start the car first thing in the morning it will sometimes almost die, or stall out completely. So i'm not sure if it could be a leaky injector causing this or anything. You can smell the car is running very rich. Haven't had time to put it on a wide band or anything to check the actual ratio. Any clue what could be causing this? I hope someone can give me some advice or things to check out, because i've looked over my bank statement today, and i've put literally over 1400 in gas in the car in 2 months.
Something is definitely wrong. I built a 91 GT with a 302 and a 5 speed that ran 11.50s and did 25mpg on the highway. My 92 GT with a blower and over 500rwhp gets 20mpg on the highway with a bad tune. My 90 LX with a 742hp ran 9.30s and got 14mpg on the highway. I had a damn near stock 88 GT that had 3.55 gears, K&N air filter, fiberglass hood and was lowered and that did 27+mpg on the highway.

okay so i did get the codes pulled from the EEC, the two i got were

KOEO - 111 no faults detected during KOEO

Memory Code
172- HO2S (sensor System Lean Bank 1)

173- HO2S (sensor System Rich Bank 1)

so its obiviously the o2 sensors messed up...but i mean would o2 sensors cause it to be that bad???

so in your opinion could that be why the car runs like ass half the time and feels like its missing at random sometimes?? I just wouldn't have thought o2 sensors would've caused so much problems...but guess so.

You may have more than one issue, I would replace the o2 and see where you end up. It may cure your problems entirely it may not, but it won't hurt.

hey Tim I have some extra newer injectors , you might have a bad injector or something going on , pull the plugs and see if one is more black or white than the rest of them , Royal Purple is ok , but Id just run some castrol GTX 10w30

and for these codes , you should never see both sides reading opposite of each other , might be lower intake gasket only leaking air in on one side , and its richening up trying to correct and making the other bank rich , while still reading lean on the other side

Start now with the PB Blaster or WD40. They may come off with no problem and they may not. The last ones I changed chewed up the threads on the pipe bung.

....and i'm also changing the oil...another side question but is royal purple really as good as they say??
In my opinion (and we all have them), not worth the money in anything but an all out track car where every fraction of a HP could make a diffference.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, usually my car gets between 20-22 miles a gallon, then start given me about 9-11 miles/g and was runing rich on gas, when cold will die, I was thinking of bad O2 sensors might be given me the problem, I replace them with a spare set I have, but that didn't fix the problem. I found a vacum house, the one tha goes from the canister to the upper intake was crack i replace it with a new one, now my car is runing great with no problems whatsoever.

tha canister is locate it under the air box, and that vacum house runs from the canister goes under the alternator and finally passes behind the distributor, connects in the front of your upper intake, between the lower and upper intake, hope this solves your problem, it was a easy fix for me under $5 bucks

Royal Purple is probably the most horsepower producing oil......if there is such a thing. I know people that have seen 8-10hp out of it but on a daily driven car I think it is not worth the money. A good synthetic will help keep the engine healthy but you don't need to spend a fortune on Royal Purple.
