yea, that i know most def ,.. but other than that is there anything i would need to worry about. Someone told me that it would reduce the life of my axles... is this apparent?

yes if you have stock axles i'd worry about them twisting or breaking.
street driving a locked differential causes a lot of wear and tear.

if its street driven much, you will wear rear tires even more than you do now and maybe a little more than normal wear on front mainly cupping the edges do to the more effort to get the car to turn, spend a few bucks and put new clutch packs in it cause once you weld it the whole unit is worthless

Do not weld your spider gears. That is what people do with demolition derby cars, not street or race cars. All you will accomplish is destroying a perfectly good traction lock carrier and eventually a broken axle(s) because now your tires are going to turn at the same speed when you turn corners. Do it right and put some clutch packs in it or leave it as it is. Do not weld spider gears.

If you are getting a different rear end soon then why even waste the time rebuilding this one?
