Woo!! My first 5.0!!!


Well i just got my very first 5.0 and I couldnt be happier with it. Im sure im going to have alot to talk about in the next couple of weeks or so.

The guy I got it from really couldnt tell me much about it so im pretty much feeling my way around on it.

Its got cam in it. I would say around a 510"ish" lift. My father in law says it sounds to him more like a 525, but i guess ill never know untill i tear apart the engine, Unless you guys know any tricks to get the lift without pulling the cam. Sounds real nasty comming out the magnaflows though

Polished cobra upper and lower. I already pulled the intake to see if it had any work done to it, but it has not.

The guy told my it had gt40p heads on it and i cant see any numbers on the heads but i CAN see that it has stock headders. and from what i understand, stock headers dont work with the gt40p heads. Correct me if im wrong please.

It had 24# injectors on it but a stock maf and stock computer so i put 19#s on it and it actually runs stronger now in my opinion. also it idles alot smoother too

Im not sure what gears it has in it. I tried to count them off, and i know that they are definatly not 3.73. I counted something just barely past 3.00.

She is a stout bitch right now though, i can tell you that. How much hp do you guys think im looking at right now?

230 ish. With some heads you could really take advantage of the intake and cam. Could see 260 plus with gt40p heads alone. That plus some gear would wake that thing up. any pics?

yeah stock headers work with gt40ps, prob has stock gears which are 2.73s

Its has to do with overlap.......... piston chasing the exhaust valve up

Sounds like 3.08 if you are counting correctly. This might help too

Look at the "AX" code on your drivers door ID sticker.
M= 2.73
Z= 3.08
E= 3.27

230? how is that possible if the car comes 225 stock?

Congrats, 5.0's are the best (IMO).

Stock headers work with the gt40p's, so he may have been correct about that.

Also check the front of your heads, if they have 4 vertical bars on them, they are the p's.

CONGRATZ MAN!!!! I just picked up my first 5.0L on SAT, WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!
took it out for a cruise with the wife and kids.. and surprise.. my wife loves the car too..
