what is necessary to get this done? just remove them and make sure the hole is plugged in the block?

plug air tube piping from converters , remove pump and all hoses etc , plug any vacuum lines off , pipes coming out the back of each head need to be plugged with 5/8s bolts

Easier said than done w/ regards to removing the pump.
It's much easier to replace the air pump with the bracket/idler pulley than it is to remove it and leave it as is when you go looking for a belt. My car has no air pump or AC compressor, and getting a replacement belt was a bitch. Keep the belt setup as close to stock as possible...it's just simpler that way.

Well, your brackets weren't mixed and matched...and poorly matched. I think I ended up with a 81.5" belt. It's what happens when you buy someone elses project car. I'm still looking into whether or not Guinness has a record for highest number of fault codes in one car...

CJ Pony Parts - Ford Mustang Parts

I had my ac and smog deleted, my ps moved up in place of the ac but have since went manual steering so now I only have my 3g alt, crank underdrive and waterpump underdrive pullies so my belt's short as hell.

remove all the smog junk and plug the smog tube holes in the back of the heads... only thing though if your still running the stock h pipe with all the stock oem cats then there going to over heat and get clogged. Time to invest in an off road h or x or a catted of choice just not the oem.
