X3Z Computer - Should i switch?Im guessing the previous owner got the Ford Racing Kit, that came with the Computer, 70mm MAF sensor and the 24lbs injectors. The only thing i am not sure of is if i have the 70mm MAF sensor (b/c i dunno how to check). But i Have the computer and 24lbs injectors. But the thing is i have other mods, and i have heard that the Cobra Computer doesnt go well with Other mods, especially cams. Now the guy told me it was rebuild, it has TrickFlow Upp/Low intake and Aftermarket heads, 190LPH pump, MSD, and so on. But with a new cam "supposibly" should i switch computers to something else? When im done working on it i want to tune it. So i would like to know the Pros + Cons of the Cobra Computer if any one knows that would be awesome! But let me know what ya think and what i should do, i dont want to be robbing myself of HP or something if i dont have to be Thanks guys! - The Novice.

btw 93Hatch did you seem to get better performance with a different computer, or was it hard to tell since ya couldnt get it to run right. Finally, if this computer sucks so much why did they make it in the cobra's. Does it have any Gains from other computers? Or is it all Con's and no Pro's to this Darn thing? |

lets see i went from that computer to a mystery one sean had with no numbers, ran ok but still died and would hunt for an idle sometimes, went to an a9s, car ran a little better, still died sometimes like if i was turning and idling at the same time, then with the a9l my car idled the best and hasnt died yet or tried to find its idle |

I dunno, the car seems to run decent, i gets up and goes, but i figured i just had to fix the timing or something, its runs quite rich and have been trying to get that figured out, would that possibly be b/c of the computer? That would be nice to know, it has been annoying me a lot. I dont really know anything about this Cobra computer and whats its good for and bad for. Well thats good to hear that ya got your car fixed! Of course let us know when ya get it dyno'd ![]() Also im gunna have to pull this computer out and its jammed way up there, can i disconnect it or will it cause the computer to reset or do something dumb? I have the battery disconnected. Also That heater w/e unit on the passenger side, the large black thing and ducting under the glove box, can i remove that and keep it out? Thanks for any and all help guys! - The Novice. |

![]() For me its really tight in there, and i have little room. I was thinking of taking out that black venting and fan or w/e it is. Can i do that or is that a bad idea, i dunno if its the heater or just ducting. But i would like to get rid of it anyways if i could its just extra weight. Is there any reason why i shouldnt or couldnt or any thing i should watch out for, tips, and so on about it? I would appreciate the help. Thanks a lot 93Hatch for your help on the computer matter. Make sure ya let us know when ya go to the Dyno, i really wanna know what you'll pull. |

Does it have a governer or cut out the fuel after 80MPH or something? Am i going to lose top end with this thing on? Also i still have to check b/c i dunno if i can take that thing i posted pics of yet, but if i get that off ( can i ?) and find out that this computer is Chipped is it possible that it fixed the timing curve and took out this High speed cut out or w/e this computer supposibly does at high speeds??? Really sorry to keep asking you for help, but thank you a lot for all of it! |
