oil pressure
So apparently my engine has an upgraded high-pressure oil pump and ARP shaft. normal driving im hitting between 20 and 40psi when engine is warm. cold it climbs up to 80psi. using 10w-30 mobil1 oil, stock 302 with windsor jr heads and e303 cams.
what should the oil pressure be? i thought higher than 20psi. |

on pushrod V-8's any oil pressure is good.
![]() If your motor is fairly fresh or young, try using a lighter oil. 5W30 or 5W20 helps alot, frees up a little power, and gives you better fuel economy. As far as checking oil pressure, use a calibrated gauge that plugs into the oil pressure port. Remote gauges can be misleading. |
