cast iron vs aluminum heads
besides weight and heat dissapation, is there truely an advantage of using alumin heads as opposed to iron heads.
The motor they are going on is a 351, 14cc dish pistons, fairly big cam 238 or 248 duration @.50 .540ish lift and on top of this it will at least a 150 if not 200 shot of the juice. The heads offered in aluminum or cast iron same specs, on both heads just different materials, 200cc intake, 66cc exhaust 2.02 intake valve. 1.60 exhaust with either a 58 or 64 cc combustion chamber enjoy it guys

You can run more compression with an alum head ,on pump gas, due to its better heat dissapation properties.
I also like the fact that with an alum head, your removing a sizable amount of weight off the front of the car. But just the same.....Ive got some close freinds who are running 5's with thier iron heads.

well im lookin for about 9.5 or so max compression, and with those 14cc pistons im think 58cc combustion chambers should put it close on a stock deck 351.
I know the weight of almost 50 lbs off the front is huge, just lookin if theres anything ive overlooked in the aluminum vs cast iron

cast iron
cast iron heads are more durable especially on the 'juice' a blown headgasket can ruin a set of alumies really fast, cast iron just needs new gasket. also alot less expensive than T F or edelbrock, although i heard those gt40p heads off exploders give you about thirty more horses with the intake , cast iron heads.

RHS makes a good head for 405 bare, cast iron 200cc intake, 60 or 66 exhaust, 2.02 intake valve, 1.60 exhaust, 58 or 64 cc combustion chamber
and like I said earlier its offered in aluminum or cast iron. I know if you skimp on heads, you can really fubar your build up. Just in, victor jr's brand new for 700 bucks, gotta love broke friends, guess this debate is solved
