S/C rebuild kit needed or no?

Hey guys i am currently talking to a guy with a V1-S-trim he has everything minus a few bolts and it was rebuild 6 years ago.

My questions is should i rebuild it if i get it? Heres the catch, he says he got it rebuilt and never put it back on he car, so it has just been sitting in his house with the tape from vortech and everything covering the head unit from when they shipped it back to him 6 years ago. Now im not sure so i was hoping you couls help me out, but with it sitting still that long and the oil not moving would it be ok to just all of the sudden put it on your mustang?

Let me know what ya think, again its just been sitting, not moving so i dont know if thats bad or just as good as new. Thanks for the help, i appreciate it!

If you were to get it I would send it back to vortech and have it checked out just to make sure. Btw how much is he wanting for the kit/>

Ok thanks, its comes with mostly everything except a few minor things, heres what it has...

Included: brackets, fmu, tensioner, head unit, bypass, powerpipe, underdrive crank pulley, blower pulleys and belts for 8psi and 15 psi.

Missing: btm, fuel pump, oil feed line, radiator hose elbow.

Its an older unit, its serial # is 00590. So its older, but should that matter? i would assume not, but thought i was ask.

Can Vortech tell you the History of it? If so what do i have to do?

the tag says
model: V-1
serial: 00590
CARB EOD-213-3

He is asking $1500 OBO. And it sounds like he wants to get rid of it. I want to find out if i can find out more about its history but not sure how i can do it, but people say you can. I was thinking of trying to get it for 1K-1.2K. But depends.

What do ya think, is this a decent deal, any thoughts? Also how much will it cost to send it back out to Vortech again? Thanks for the help! Really appreciate it a lot! - The Novice.

Vortech should be able to tell you the history of it but imo 1500 is way too much I would offer him 1000 and go no higher than 1200.

Ok ill have to talk to them.

Really ya think think 1200 is a lot for a full kit? Its the lowest i have ever seen them around here. Heck one guy wanted 1500 just for the Head unit, bracket and pulley.

Where else could/should i look for to find a well priced S/C Know of any? If ya really think i could find one for 1K or so that would be cool.

Also say i do get this S-trim or something different. Can i still use my 24lbs injectors if needed as a last resort?

I have some Mods already but i dunno how much HP this S/C will add i wanna play it safe and not go over 425(ish) HP. Will i be way under or over that range? Thanks for all the help!! - The Novice.

The thing is it is probably about 10 years old and its missing a couple of major parts and you have no clue what kind of life its had. You can buy the kit new for 3000. After you buy this kit and buy the rest of the essentials for the kit you will have about 2000 in it and then you are gonna need injectors 24lber's are not gonna be enough for it.
When it comes to selling superchargers most people try to get their money back out of them and you cant find a decent priced charger on the market most of the time.

I see, the guy was telling me it has almost everything, but you are saying its missing some major parts?

What is it missing? he made it sound like it was only missing those 3 things, and i already have a MSD 6AL and a 255LPH fuel pump.

If you happen to know what else i would need that would be great b/c i was under the conclusion that it came with everythin needed to install except the things he listed. If you happen to know what else i would need that he doesnt have i would love to know, and im really glad you stated that, so thank you, but let me know if you happen to know what else i would need. Thanks! - The Novice.

I did not know you already had the fuel pump The btm is different than a 6al the btm basically does the same thing as the 6al but the btm lets you adjust timing degrees per every pound of boost. It is not missing any major parts besides the ones you were listing, just an oil feed line and elbow. I am not positive but i would think it would be your best bet to go ahead and get the btm if you were going to get it. But the major thing is sending it back to vortech, I am not sure if they will check it out for a small fee or not but getting it rebuilt if there is anything wrong with it is going to cost a little bit. This does not mean it will cost you 2000 bucks in the end, but it could if there is anything wrong with it.

I see well that kinda sucks if i have to rebuild it its not much of a deal

Btw if i used the 8lbs pulley do you have maybe a rough guess of how much HP i will be making i dont care about the numbers much just that i dont want to crack my block.

I have some mods and im guessing im about say 300HP now ( rough guess but not sure) And i just dont want to F up my car and would like some more HP but there arnt really many other options

Thanks for your help a lot! I'll have to call Vortech tomorrow or something, i assume its done by Phone not email?
