haha ya seriously, thats old technology.
get a good set of upper and lowers, get rid of the quad shock. the stock springs might be able to support a 1.3 but you will need a good set of shocks. |

well i think there was something good about them. they eliminated wheel hop 100% and plant the tires firmly into the pavement every time.

Okay, I only know basic suspension concepts.
The picture I saw of the lift bars earlier in this thread looks similar to what 88 had when I bought it. I just assumed they were a different style of control arms. Is it possible to swap back more conventional control arms once those plates are welded in for the lift bars (using the stock hole for the control arm) or will have some pinion angle issues if i switch to regular control arms? What's on there now makes a lot of noise so I assume what bushing they do have are probably shot. [IMG] [/IMG]

High 1.5x 60 foots is possible with a 13.30 car but I don't see what relevance it has to you run 1.3x 60 foots with the Gt40 headed combination you listed.

What makes the lift bars work is the bracket that is welded on the rear end. When you put the brackets and bars on you set the pinion angle per SSM's recomendations and then weld the brackets on. This causes the rear end to lift and plant the tires. It also destroys the torque boxes. SSM bars are effective but not the most efficient control arms out there. If you cut the plates off you can use conventional style control arms with the stock mounting holes. The noise you are hearing could be torque boxes or elongated bolt holes on the lower torque boxes. Pretty common with those SSM bars.

No. 2 tenths in the 60 foot is a big accomplishment as strange as that may sound. There is a big difference between a 1.3x 60 foot and a 1.5x 60 foot. The only cars you will see in the 1.2x to 1.3x 60 foot range are single digit cars. It takes alot of power to produce 60 foot times in that range.

Okay, that makes sense. I already have some battle boxes that I plan on installing over the winter so depending on the condition of the torque box area and the lift bars, I may swap for normal control arms. I have nothing to compare with on this car to determine if the lift bars are working or not though and I havent used anything but street tires.
