strip only car or street/strip? if you plan on driving it on the street, keep the swaybar. handling will suck without it.

there are other options though. if you are looking for better drag strip traction but want to retain streetability, steeda has a couple of different tubular front swaybars that are light and will still handle decently

That depends I have no sway bars on my car with a fill drag suspension Eibach drag springs with air bag in rear with Dugan Racing upper and lower arms. In front I have an AJE K member and control arms with Strange Adjustable drag struts with coil overs in front and Strange adjustable shocks in rear. When I have my struts adjusted stiffer my car handles just fine. Now I t is no corner carver but is not crappy in any sense of the word like you say. The thing that will not help with handling is if you have the drag skinny tires up front. I dont have that I run 245's up front and 275's in the rear both 17 inch. when I go drag racing I boly on my 9 inch slicks soften the struts and rear shocks and off we go...If you like to drive on the twisty roads more that keep the sway bar but if you like straight line performance then lose both bars...

You can also buy A 2006 model. The front sway bar will eventually fall off...... as I am starting to find out.

Kinda like stangzilla said it will kind of depend on what you have for suspension. If you have stock stuff then id definately keep it if your street driving the car.

i know this post is like 5 years ago but i got a question about sway bars. will a upgraded sway bar help the car traction better? with my rear u/l control arms, subframe connectors, i feel the traction is not all there yet. maybe i need drag radials tires?

Losing the sway bar helps traction. The only reason it does is because you get better weight transfer without it. The sway bar itself limits the travel of the front suspension. Without it there, you get more lift out of the front end on launch, therefore more weight transferred to the rear wheels. A new one won't do you any good besides shave a little weight off the front if it's tubular.

It's cake to unbolt your swaybar so I say.. unbolt the end links and leave the bar mounted up and launch that fucker a few times and take it for a spin around town or to the local school yard and see how much more it helps your car with traction and how bad it makes handling and if it's a far trade off for you or not. If it is then unbolt the fucker and toss it but if not then you didn't waste money just bolt the end links back up and your pimpin again.

I still think 86 Notch should bolt a front one back up before he twists his car into a pretzel.

YouTube - mustang wheelie
Looks like no front or rear. I know a guy in a 4th gen formula that had no sway bars front or rear. he had a few boltons and a big stall. Pulled the drivers side tire and launched twisted kinda like that mustang.
