Header Selection???? Need Help


i just put a brand new 1993 cobra 5.0 engine in my car...it is bored 30 over has 1.7 crane cams roller rockers, gt-40 heads, bigger valves, and a little bit stouter cam then stock, with a gt-40 intake.....I was woundering if i should buy long tubes or shorty equal lengths to put on my motor to get the most power out of it? secondly which company out there makes the best headers or has the best flow rate?

and just another question to anyone who wants to answer...what do u think this motor has for power over the stock 5.0 ho motor?

Kooks and Accufab make some decent headers. Those would be my first two choices. You are probably 70hp over a stock 5 liter. The stock Cobra engine was rated at 235hp but getting rid of the cobra computer brings that number up a bit. I'ver heard (but never seen) people making 275hp on an engine dyno with the 93 Cobra engine with an A9L computer and not the Cobra X3Z. The only thing you have different from a stock Cobra engine is the cam which is going to make a minimal difference as will the bigger valves and .030 over bore. All Cobra engines came with 1.7 Crane roller rockers, GT40 iron heads and a Cobra specific GT40 intake.

You can forget those equal length shorties, the difference between those and unequal is so small that there is no point getting the equals. They make things more difficult. See the dyno myths sticky for comparison.

That being said, long tubes give you the most power.
