when I switched my 86 from a tuned stock carb and Mani to stock efi set up except for a cheap cone filter my car ran better and trapped 2 mph higher than it did and I gained like 4 mpg. To me I gave up nothing gained alot. The only shity part wasthe ammount of parts and work it required.

they both have their ups and downs its all in the person that tunes it. carb set up can have good driveabaility if its tuned right and efi can be a monstar to get right once you have it right then it works like a dream but at a cost. a correct efi setup for a high hp car is alot of money but more efficent. carbd set ups can make alot of power at half the cost. there is a reason that most fast track cars are carbd.. its alot cheaper and easier to tune but at the cost of efficency. that and most oldtimers are scared of electronics.

That is the real reason. Cheaper, easier and more power is all jaw jacking. Many people have made more power with EFI than they did with carburetors. When you get into high horsepower stuff, its all expensive no matter what route you choose.

it really comes down to personal preference. i enjoy being able to swap jets at the track in between runs. my 1982 capri ran 14.0 on a stock 1988 roller motor with an "out of the box" Holley 650 dbl pumper. we couldn't break through the 14.0 mark all day. we swapped the factory Holley out with a Holley 650 that my buddy had done some work on, milled choke horn ect. and the next weekend the car ran 13.30
