$5000 to spend
I just took out a $5000 loan for my car, I have a couple of things in mind to do to it but I want to know somebody elses opinion. Im not looking for a straight out drag car, i'm just looking for the most horsepower I can get for a street car without too much of a risk at damaging it.

Is your car stock right now, or is it modded. If it is modded, post what you already got so you can get alittle more help. You got a 302?

you can get a good amount of power with $5,000... personally, i would go with a good set of trickflow or AFR heads, a nice cam, upper and lower intake, larger injectors, bigger MAF, and a supercharger.....you should be able to do that for $5000...it might be just under that... oh, and exhaust...
i put 3.73 gears in my car and that made a huge difference...gears would be a good place to start....maybe 4.10s another good idea would be a topend kit from trickflow or Holley...they run about $2100, and then a S/C.. |

Before touching the motor, I'd upgrade the suspension, brakes, tires, and axle gears.

TFS or Holley Kit, with the recommended, add'l parts.
3.73 or 4.10 would help.

upgrade your top end, you could either go with the holley or TF package that they have on summit and that will give you a good amount of power, also dont forget to upgrade your injectors, MAF (calibrated to the injectors you choose) throttle body, etc, etc, etc, everyone will tell you what you should get but it is all up to you bro, just make sure that you have fun with it.

i think ive got my choices down to 3 , either completely rebuild the motor, put a supercharger on it , or just buy a new motor, my motor has alot of miles on it so im leaning a little more toward the new motor, but like i said i want the most power for the price , so that seems like the supercharger but then again i dont want to spend that much for a charger and then blow my motor up.

shit, there is no sense in buying a whole new engine if the block you got is still good... pull it & take it down to a reputable engine shop & they can make sure that the block is good & do all the machine work for you. then have them bore it out a little bit, & build a stroker out of it.. you can make 400 HP outta that motor for way less than what you got... build up the engine & then put the rest of the money into clutch, trans, & rear end. make sure you get good sub-frame connectors too!
