T-5 Trouble
Well I got her back on the road this weekend, and everything was great, and I decited to check all the fluids and when I tried to chek my 5spd trans the plug about 3/4 of the way up in the center of the case was hard to take out. So after busting my knuckles for awhile, I screwed it back in. This morning when I went to go to work the shifter was super hard to move around and I could not feel it shift. I had to really pull on it to move it. The plug I loosend had a star pattern in it, and I thought it should have had a squar hole for a 3/8 ratchet. Any help would be much appreciated. Mark

So after work I went back under the car and loosend up the top star bolt/ plug and the car now shifts through 1-5 but it wont engage in to reverse! Does any one have any idea what that bolt/ plug does? It's on driver side of car and is about 3/4 up the center of the case. Maybe I should just look for a new trans. Please help!!! Mark

I had a friend sit in the car while it was jacked up, and wiggle the shifter while I tightend up the one I had loosend up. It supn in by hand then I tightend it with ratchet. I now have all gears, but I never found where I'm suposed to check the lever of the trans!!!! Anyone have a pickture of what I'm looking for??? It's nothing like my M-22!!!

its on the passenger side .there are 2 plugs the upper is the fill and the lower the drain they are 3/8s squares so you use a 3/8s ratchet to remove the upper plug to check the level. if you plan on changing your fluid you could use either ATF or
GM synchromesh .Royal purple makes Synchromax which is good stuff and makes the trans shift smoother.to refill the T-5 2 quarts should do it
