Help...please...Very Important
okay I asked this in the general tech section where questions like this belong but there was no responses...
.... I am having a problem gettting my passenger door unlocked... the power lock button wont work, the keys wont work, and opening the door from the inside doesnt work... I took the door panel off and found that the piece that sticks out the top of the door panel want hooked to anything... weird I know... but I cant figure out any way to get this door unlocked... it is seized up pretty good |

Can you see if the actuator and the latch are seperate? There's a chance that the actuator seized up and won't let you move the actual lock. If thats the case, you can remove whatever joins the actuator and the actual lock mechanism.
Sorry for the general description but I haven't actually looked at mine personally. I'm just going by how they are on every other car I've worked on and they are different almost every time. Usually it's a plastic lever that connects them together. |

Yea, the actuator is just the motor for the power lock. The latch and the lock itself should still work fine, provided they are seperate from eachother aren't built in to the entire assembly itself.. probably not the case on these cars, they're old enough to be safe from that practice I think.

cool... so I might could even lock it with my key? What about that piece that lets you know if its locked or not... is it crucial as in does it need to be there?

Yea, as long as it's the actuator causing the problems, you should be able to lock with the key after it's removed. The rod for the manual lock wont hurt anything if it isn't there. In some cases, it attaches to the actuator itself so if you remove the actuator you won't be able to put it back in anyway.
This could also be the actual lock mechanism being seized up itself too. I've seen it happen, but not as often as the actuator seizing. When you pull on the handle on the inside to open the door, does it feel like it is binding up at all? |

yeah the handle on the inside does feel like its binding up... for example on my driver side door I can lock it and open it from the inside... on the passenger side it feels almost the same until right where it is supposed to pop the door open, except it doesnt open the door and feels like im about to break the handle... those things are kinda flimsy to begin with

Ok then most likely it's lock related and not the latch itself. I would douse it in penetrating oil and try to work it free with the key and the latch first, then if you have no luck, try removing the actuator.
