Is there any way to tell the difference between gt40 heads and e7 heads without pulling the intake?

yeah GT or GT40 should be stamped somewhereon the head

gt 40 heads have 3 vertical lines on the front of the head and gt 40 p heads have 4 lines . stock mustang heads don't have any lines

Thanks for the reply, but i know they're not p's cause i already checked for the bars. Im trying to figure out weather they are even gt40's like i was told or if they are just plain old e7's.

I have popped the valve covers and looked for the gt or gt40 markings but i did not see any. I did, however, see some numbers in there, but those numbers are only a date code(jun '93 built at cleveland plant). But, from what i understand, not ALL gt40's were marked this way.(please correct me if i am wrong) I have been told that the only way to know for sure is to pop the lower intake and look for the numbers under the exhaust port.

I guess im just trying to see if anyone else knows of a marking unique to the gt40 heads that i can look for

You need to read his reply again. he stated the gt40 has 3 lines and the gt40p has 4.

My gt40p heads are punched gt40p on the passenger side outside by the fuel rails. I know you said gt40 but just for future referance.

gt40p heads have GTP on them and the gt40 i believe just have gt
