Supercharger

I have a 1989 LX 5.0,with the following modifications: Cobra intake,1.7 rocker arms,70 mm throttle body,73 mm mass air flow sensor,Performance distibutor,MSD box, with new racing coil and spark plug wires.Ceramic coated shorty headers,H-pipe and Flow Master exhaust, without the converters.Under-drive pulleys, racing aluminum radiator,a new performance computer, with a performance tune. The car made 270 horsepower on the dyno, but i would like to have a little more.
What's the best supercharger/turbo kit for my car and will i have to change the current computer in the car,or can i just get another re-tune?
Will i have to change the stock 19 lb injectors to 24 lb. injectors?

What's the best supercharger/turbo kit for my car? that depends on your needs. there are a lot of variables to choose from.

you can retune it.

Will i have to change the stock 19 lb injectors to 24 lb. injectors?

270 with stock heads and intake? You could just upgrade the heads and intake and cam ( H/C/I ). If you want some serious HP.

Or is you want a supercharger do you have a price range?

If you want Torque you can go with a roots Supercharger like Kenne Bell.

If ya want more top end you can go with a Procharger, Vortech, Paxton. These are Centrifical S/C's and are the Hair Dryer style.

Do you still have the original block stock? Or was it rebuilt. If so whats your Compression ratio?

supercharger

The block is factory stock and the engine has not been rebuilt. The car has 24,000 original miles and is garage kept.I started playing with modifications about 2 years ago and i am just looking for some extra bolt-on horsepower.
After my new computer purchase and the performance tune,i have to run 100 octane gas.The tuner said, running any less octane could cause some engine issues.

Wow...seems a little ridiculous for only having 270 HP. You have a chip in it? And do you know what the chip is by chance?

But like HMUSN said "are you looking for top end power or a kick from the start?"

Also do you have a budget? And/or a HP goal?

Whats your budget? Kenne Bell gets my vote, but it costs a fortune and wont give the most power. Maybe turbo or V2 s-trim would be my second choice.

Wow, 270 on stock heads, un-ported? Thats what, 80hp over stock. But with 100 octane, i dont like that. That much hp could be easily done with pump gas with aftermarket heads. Maybe it is crank hp?

If your car makes those numbers it the way it does now, a good hci would ride out. Some twisted wedge heads, tfs intake and a custom cam youd prob be a nice low 12 second car.

If you are interested in a supercharger, I'll make you a hell of a deal on a complete set up. Vortech S-trim, Vortech aftercooler, power pipe, 42lb injectors, 80mm mass air meter, boost retard and Diablo Sport chip tuned for the combination. It comes with a couple different pulleys. Right now it makes 15lbs of boost on my combo. My car is too nice to abuse (only 41,000 miles) so I took the blower and some other parts off. Everything is low miles and if your interested I'll make you a killer deal.

Dang Darrell, how much HP were you putting out with that thing? With the S/C 15lbs pulley + the aftercooler. I bet that thing screamed!

Supercharger for sale

That sounds like a killer deal....I have a few questions to ask...

My car only has 24,000 original miles and i don't abuse it when i drive it.Would that kit be compatible with my car, since everything is still basically stock? I don't want a supercharger that is going to "kill" the block, bend,or break a rod,or damage the valve train. This motor stops pulling around 4700 rpm,so it's not a high rpm monster motor.

I would like to find a simple,bolt-on kit, that will give me good throttle response, better low-end torque, without destroying the motor.I plan on keeping the car for a while longer and i don't want to mess up the reliability,or the drivability.
