which flowmaster to use??

i bought my mustang new in 91, had 2 chamber flowmasters installed in 92. 1 muffler has a small rusted hole in it, time to replace them! i checked out flowmasters website and found that there are 2 popular mufflers offered. the 40 series - #42443 that i have, and a new one the super 44 - #942448. whats the differance?? the tech. line at flowmaster says the super 44 has a deeper tone, but if you listen to the sound bites on their website it sounds like the other way around. please fill me in, is the super 44 the latest greatest, or is the 40 series which is what i got in 92 the cats meow??

It is strickly your opinion on which one sounds better.
If I were you, unless the rest of your existing exhaust behind the H pipe is in great shape, I'd forget the whole muffler thing and just get an entire Flowmaster cat back kit. I'm sure if one of your mufflers is bad, the rest may soon follow. The cat backs are a breeze to install and you could bump up to a 2.5 in as well.
If you don't mind the 40's, you could get the American Thunder 17116 2.5 aluminized cat back kit with 40 series mufflers for about $300 or slightly more if you have an LX and want polished tips.

Like i said though, it is all opinion, I have one of the above kits on each of my Mustangs, on my stock 91 its not bad but on my 88, it is WAY to loud and droned out for me and my next kit or mufflers will NOT be from Flowmaster.
