i've got a flaming river rack ( standard ratio ) , i got the whole kit . it's quality stuff. the only time you realize u don't have power steering is when you are stopped and are trying to make a sharp turn ( nothing to sweat about ) . .

a side note : my buddy has the flaming river quick ratio rack and it's much harder to make slow turns.

Buy the whole kit. The power rack and manual rack steering shaft and tie rod ends are different. The Flaming River steering shaft is pimp as a mofo too.

Do any of you know why the flaming river rack for the SN95 won't work with a modular set up?

i believe you can use a replacement manual rack from a 1979 mustang and save a few bucks.

All the notes on this page say "non-modular". Maybe I am missing something. I am almost sure they will fit, because I have seen several mod motored SN95's with the FR manual rack on them. I just wonder is there more to it than just bolting the r&p in place.

You can save alot of bucks. But you still need different tie rod ends and a different steering coupler. If you have the extra money the Flaming River kit is well worth the money. The steering shaft alone is worth the money because it is that much better than the stock shaft.

I wonder what the difference is. Must be oil pan clearance.

I think the shaft will not clear the exhaust on the mod motors, expecially the 4V mod motors. I had the flaming river kit on both foxes and I wish I would have done it from day 1. The steering feels better, you drop about 20-30 pounds getting rid of the power steering stuff, plus you clean up the engine bay considerably.

Laurel mountain mustang has a pretty good deal on the whole kit.

near the bottom of the page...it might be cheaper from the same company on ebay.
Laurel Mountain Mustang Parts

You cannot use the stock PS shaft with the manual rack, you will need a manual shaft, just buy the one from flaming river, its a good kit.

I've had a flaming river manual rack setup for little over two years without any problems... took off close to 30lbs off the front of my car and really opened up the engine bay some.

I would suggest going with the kit because the manual vs power tie rods are different lenghts but they do make an adaptor to fit your stock pos shaft to the manual rack but if your going for the conversion don't cheap out on your steering was the way I looked at it. Plus that adaptor deal looks a little weak to me since i daily drive my fox
