surging and running RICH

So I just got my 302 back together after a topend rebuild/cleaning. I put on a 70mm throttle body while I was at it and started it up and the car will not idle. It sounds like it has a HUGE cam in it. It goes down to like 500rpm and jumps to 900 like every second. And when I'm driving it, it will surge real bad when I'm under or at 2k rpms in any gear and it sounds like it's missing when i drive it.. And there is white smoke coming from the exhaust and it smells so rich in the car me and my friend got all lightheaded and felt like we were going to pass out lol. What could be the problem?

Sounds like a major vacuum leak but the possibilities are endless. Start by pulling codes and checking for vacuum leaks.

this all happened after I replaced the upper intake manifold and the throttle body though and the car is speed density

The "S" vacuum line off the tree to the intake mani has a crack but I do't think it's big enough to make my car run like total shit. I parctically replaced all the vacuum lines because almost all of them broke.

and whats crazy is it runs like a BEAST under WOT but just under normal driving it runs like shit

Did you pull codes yet? Did you check the TPS voltage?

If it only runs good at WOT then I would suspect bad 02s as they are ignored at WOT and used at idle and part throttle.

I would also replace that cracked vac line.

that doesnt mean its not sending out the wrong voltage. put a volt meter on it with KOEO (key on engine off) + to the green wire and just ground the - and it should be sitting anywhere from .96-1.0 volt in resting position then high 4.** volts at WOT

my buddy just switched 3 of these in his car cause it was doing the same as yourse is doing it was sitting at 4.** at idle and WOT then we found out it was the computer. we put mine in it and it ran like a dream this was like 3 days ago..

i am not saying this is it but since it was sending the fuel in for WOT all the time it ran great at WOT then way rich in every other power range.
