Any of this sound good?
I'm lookin at doin some stuff under the hood to make it look cleaner and gain a bit of power now does anyone think it would be worth it to get a polished cobra intake, tb, and new mass air. and some polished valve covers. is there any other suggestions ? will a new up/lwr intake and tb and mass air make any difference ? suggestions im just in a bine wat to do its a daily driver and my buddy just got a zex wet kit lol its sweet but i got 150,00 on it but u would never know ... just want to keep it n/a but then there is that supercharger idea...... got about 1300 and my other mods are in my sig. keep in mind its a daily driver.

what brand and type of tire? some good drag radials would be good. also look at adding some suspension ie upper/lower control arms.

i agree if your going to spend ne money on the car at all u might as well spend it making good power, ive seen 5.0's with higher miles on them and a lot more power than stock and they hold up good. but any ways id go with a polished gt-40 intake (same thing as a cobra but cheaper) some gt-40 heads and a cam, that would probly put u at around 225 hp all motor and cost around 500 MAYBE

polished cobra intake is a cheap knockoff and not a real ford product. Lots of problems with oil consumption through the PCV with those intakes.

It is fixable though if you get the full size ford baffle and put it under the lower intake. Or you can get a oil separator and run it inline with the PCV.

The biggest restriction on these motors it the stock heads... if you want to make any power those heads have to get worked big time or swapped. The gt40 heads are cheap and a decent improvement over the e7's but won't give you 45rwhp like the higher end heads plus you don't have all the supporting mods to get the most out of a head swap. Remember a 93 cobra which came with the cobra intake, cobra cam, 1.7 rr's, 24lb injectors, cobra computer, 70mm meter, 65mm tb, ud water pump pulley and gt40 iron heads didn't make 300 to the wheels.
The stock cam has been proven to make great power and on a street only daily driver why would you want to raise the power band higher? i'd say stick with the stock cam there have been people in the 11s I believe on corral.net running the stock cam. Stock mass air flow sensor is something like 55 or 58mm where as any aftermarket meter is going to be anywhere from 70mm to 90 plus.. the stock throttle body is either 55 or 58 and a mild to stockish car doesn't need more then a 65mm and yes the stock upper/lower sucks balls but replacing these three things aren't going to net you tons of rear wheel horsepower but coupled with a head swap you will. Just some things to think about... you could do the meter, tb and intake swap now and save and do a head/cam package later after you figure out what power level and rpm range you want the car to hit Last edited by flyin ryan; November 5th, 2008 at 12:34 PM. |

gt40 heads, a nice little cam like a TFS stage 1, gt40 tubular or explorer intake, 24# injectors, matching MAF, and 65-70mm TB can all be had for well under 1300.
It's a nice pickup from stock. I haven't dynoed my combo but I have all those parts with a B303 cam. However, if anytime in the near future you are going to go bigger, i would suggest saving the $1300 toward that project.

I'd say 50-65 most likely... I have an AOD so my HP gains were lower, probably closer to 50. I trimmed about 1.5 seconds off my ET though.
It's a good combo for daily driving and running 12-13 seconds at the track...
