5.0 OHV in a 00' GT

I know that this isnt the new edge mustang forum, but no one seems to have any answers. How can I put a OHV engine (302, 351) in a 00' Gt and get by state emisson standards? I have seen a few of the swaps done, but they havent gone into getting through emissions. Any ideas?

the explorer came with a 5.0 up to 2001. i know here in california the motor has to have been offered in the same type of vehicle. i think it was only offered in the exlporer so i dont think theres any way to make it legal.

i stand corrected.

i think you can still use it as long as you retain ALL the emissions components

The biggest question is whether Arizona allows putting a truck engine in a car - if they do, swapping over an Explorer 5.0 from 2000 or later and keeping all its emissions components should be smog legal. You'll need to check with the emissions inspectors if this is allowed. I know it's not permitted in California, but Arizona may be different.

A little off top, but isn't a pushrod and an OHV engine the same thing?

If you could get it to meet the same emissions test standards for a 4.6L Mustang, I don't see how it would be a problem, or you could register it as a special purpose vehicle.
