Question for all the experienced drag racers here...
whats up guys...well i finally got the car running right and fixed all the coolant leaks on the car.I used to be alot into street racing so today me and a friend went to a place we used to street race at a few years back that is measured off to exactly an 8th mile. so i decided what the hell and ran the car down the 8th mile. as we went by the end marker, my speed was at about 76mph the car didn't spin much at all. was wondering if anyone could give me some sort of idea as to what kind of times i could expect in the 1/8th mile. another piece of info the car weighs 3420 with no one in it. me and my friend together weigh about 540 lbs.

Not possible to compare street info to track info. For one, you really don't know how much the tires spun. You might think they didn't spin much but you don't really know. For two, your 76mph could be 84mph or 65mph. Who knows how accurate the speedometer is. The only way to know is to run it down the track.

yea, i got ya i agree not 100 percent sure just was trying to get a ballpark idea. I know typically 74-76 mph from what i've seen with mustangs is usually good for high 9.30's or low 9.40's but like ya said who knows. Tracks are already closed for the season here so i'll find out next march i guess lol

I'd just wait until the tracks re-open if you truly want to know. Theres no fun when your talking to someone saying "I think my car runs xx.xx" anyways..Just wait it out.

I borrowed one from a friend. It was pretty accurate. It gave me the same 1/4 mile time that i got from the track. The mph was off though.

if you have an i phone get pocket dyno plus mine was off never more than a tenth at most out of three runs in the quater when compared with my timeslips at the track. The most it was ever off mph was 1.2 mph. Pretty damn good for five bucks. And like darrell said it's crazy different on the street My car is almost a second slower on the street according to the program.

Either way if you truly want to know, the only way you will TRULY know is the track. Within a 10th or not, thats not DEAD ON nor is it truly knowing, nor is it what the car actually runs.
