Stupid drunk drivers, new car questions

Well I'd just bought a 2000 Mustang GT a little over a week ago and got hit by a stupid drunk driver totalling my car. As much as that sucks I'm ready to jump right back into the market. I'm flying out on Tuesday to pickup a 93 Cobra Mustang thats always been my dream car. Im looking at what Ford claims the HP is, but that just seems overly conservative to me, am I correct or are Ford's numbers right? Just doesnt seem right to me with it having the bigger TB, larger rocker arms, MAF, GT40 heads, and Cobra intake.

If I remember correctly the HP on a 93 cobra was only 10HP more then a GT at that time, 93 GT 225....93 Cobra 235... I think.

Its mainly just gonna be a weekend/fair weather cruiser, but I do intend on driving it. I've never really been a fan of buying a car for an investment, unless it's an investment in going out and having a good time in a cool car

More then a cool car is a cool rare one. Like that 93 Cobra, what color did you get? Black,Teal,or Red?

Ford introduced the Cobra variant of the Fox platform Mustang in 1993 to help boost sales and the overall image of the Mustang, although in later years Ford's focus for the Cobra was as a competitor to Chevrolet's Camaro SS and Pontiac's Trans AM WS6. The Fox SVT Cobra featured an upgraded suspension system and a high-output version of the GT's 5.0 L OHV Windsor V8 producing 235 hp (175 kW) and 280 ft·lbf (380 N·m) of torque.

Year Body Production
1993 Coupe 4,993
R Coupe 107
Total 5,100

Grabbed that from Wikipedia.com

I got the red model. Im still confused on the power rating of the engine though, with the factory mods that it has I'd think its moreHP than that

little things restrict it to 235...exhaust being the big bottleneck. do your research and you should be able to get 265-285 without even changing the intake or cylinder heads. BTW, enjoy it, drive the piss outta it. they are not that rare...but very cool

Well Im looking to find a nice set of ceramic coated long tubes right now and a matching shorty h-pipe (with cats, damn emission inspections) and a Flowmaster catback. I've also got my old E-303 cam still laying around brand new in the box Im thinking about tossing in it. I'm hoping those mods should get me a bit closer to 275hp

I haven't been this excited to go pickup a new car as I was when I got my first car when I was younger. Can't wait to fly out in the morning, but gotta be up at 4am to fly out so I'm sure my tone will change by that point lol. But in all seriousness a 1993 Cobra has always been the car I've dreamed of and I'm finally getting one so Im extremely excited. I've always just found the looks of these cars to be amazing and having the good engine and tranny foundation just makes this the car that's perfect for me/

I wound up paying 8,400 for the car and after staying up most of the night last night the E-303 cam and a BBK cold air intake I had laying around is in the car and I've ordered a set of MAC LT's (ceramic coated), MAC H-pipe, and flowmaster catback. I gave a slight miss in the lower RPMs and I've been told thats actually quite common on the 93 Cobras so I'm hoping a good dyno tune could remedy that and help smooth out the E cam just a little bit. I'm shooting for around 255 rwhp at least I hope. I guess we'll see once I get all the parts in and get a chance to put them on. Then it's off for a good dyno tune
