internals for nitrous

Im looking to get a stroker kit for a motor wanting to build (408) and i think that at some point i will run a decent shot of gas 100+and want my motor to be able to handle it with no problem. This will be a carbed motor and i know usually with nitrous everyone says forged is the way to go. I will have forged pistons and rods is it vital that the crank is also forged? Btw the car will mostly run all motor just on the gas when im feelin like i need an extra kick lol

Don't lie to yourself....once you spray it...you will want to spray it all the time. Its like crack cocaine.....it only takes once.

As far as the short block goes... a forged crank never hurts... but I have ran a stock cast crank that lived longer than the block did (cylinder wall cracked), in a 71 block. Its my opinion that in moderate rpm applications (less than 7000rpm) that a properly prepped cast crank is as strong at the production block.

I do recommend forged pistons and a good set of "nitrous friendly" rings with the proper ring gap, gaped for the amount of nitrous you plan on running.

For 100hp of nitrous you need nothing more than stock parts. You won't start needing forged pistons until you are up around 150+ and rods and crank you won't need until long after that. However 408 kits are so common and inexpensive now that its harder to find a kit without forged parts. Since your doing a 408 I'd get a kit from Woody or CHP with all forged parts. You probably won't break a cast crank but I think a forged crank is going to help bearings and everything else live longer by not flexing as much and probably run a little smoother.
