not necessarily. An intercooler basically just cools your charge and lessens the chance of detonation. And you actually lose power with an intercooler technically because depending on your piping you lose boost going the distance.Granted the charge is more dense, but I personally dont think its a necessary piece for a low boost set up on a stock block. I run up to 25lbs non intercooled with a methanol/water injection to sort of offset the heat. Granted I run a stronger block but thats not the issue. on a stock block with the right tune and plenty of fuel, I would say up near 10lbs should be just fine non intercooled.

thats what i meant,. i suppose i should have mentioned the something about the heat and intake charge
