what causes a rich condition?

What would cause a car to run rich? I just fixed the exhaust and the tips are already black, I haven't even drove it say 100 miles since the exhaust work.. What can cause this and how do u fix or check? What else does a rich condition cause??? ALSO does anyone know how to take the fuel tank down? Is it as easy as taking the bolts out and dropping it out? I am sure there are lines going in to it, are they long enough to make it down so i can take them off easly please let me know..

I dunno if its normal. But yeah mine got black. But like I said I'm not sure if its normal or not. I am planning on doing an engine flush. But if you got no cats, no way to burn out the extra gas, and it does get black.

oh well i will see what other people may say and just like what u said sounds like I need to just mark that off my list, I know one thing if u have no cats, don't run dumps MY GOSH u go down the road and roll the windows down it pulls the gas smell in, but i went and had the exhaust looked at and they said one of my mufflers was on backwards and that the mufflers werent even in the car right, so that costed me 159 to fix and now i got the exhaust running out the back tires and out the side of the car at a angle toward the ground, sounds good and gets rid of that annoying rumbling inside the car... I couldn't stand that anymore lol..

Removing the tank is easy, when you drop it down do it slowly allowing for clearence to get at the lines, about 10 to 12 inches should allow enough space to get at the lines. Make sure the tank is near empty as the tank can be pain with fuel in it.
